The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Tshilwavhusiku has apprehended a 23-year-old man in connection with a serious arson attack and death threats.
The arrest, which took place on Thursday, 29 January 2026, relates to an incident that occurred in Manavhela village on Friday, 23 January 2026. According to police reports, the suspect allegedly set fire to a two-roomed house belonging to his girlfriend. He is further accused of threatening to kill the victim and her two children.
The suspect is now in custody and is scheduled to make his first court appearance at the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 02 February 2026. He will be formally charged with arson.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
