A 28-year-old man appeared in the Nkowankowa Magistrate’s Court today, 30 January 2026, charged with the rape of a 14-year-old learner.
Sergio Ngobeni, of Nkowankowa location, was remanded in custody. His case was postponed to 05 February 2026 for further investigation.
The charge relates to an incident on Tuesday, 28 January 2026, at approximately 16:20. The victim was allegedly attacked while walking home from school in Section A, Nkowankowa. The suspect, known to the victim, is accused of dragging her to a nearby house, raping her, and threatening her life.
The case was reported to police by an educator after the learner disclosed the assault. A rape case was opened at Ritavi Police Station, leading to the arrest.
