The Phuthaditjhaba Public Order Policing Unit arrested five suspects for the murder of a 20-year-old man from Matsikeng, Makwane Village.
On 20 January 2026, three suspects lured the victim to Matsikeng Village by falsely claiming his girlfriend was in trouble. He was restrained, taken to a farm in the Maluti area, and killed.
Community information led police to the victim’s body on 24 January 2026. Three men and two women, aged 21 to 43, were arrested.
They are charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. A vehicle used in the crime was seized. The motive is unknown.
The suspects will appear in the Makwane Magistrate’s Court on 28 January 2026.
