Four suspects are in custody after Lingelethu police discovered an illegal firearm during a vehicle stop in Ilitha Park on Wednesday evening.
Members were conducting a checkpoint on Ntlazane Road when they pulled over a white Chevrolet Optra with four occupants. A search of the vehicle and its occupants yielded a 9mm pistol with no serial number and six rounds of ammunition.
The suspects, aged between 19 and 35, were immediately arrested for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. They are due to make their first appearance at the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
