The Burgersfort Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is seeking public assistance to locate 34-year-old Bonginkosi Kgopotso Mazibuko. Police believe he can assist in the investigation of two rape incidents involving minors in the Mecklenburg policing area, Sekhukhune District, Limpopo.
The incidents occurred separately in October 2022 and November 2024. The suspect is reported to drive a silver Volkswagen Polo with an unknown registration number.
First Incident (24 October 2022): A 17-year-old victim was walking to school when a man in a silver Volkswagen Polo pointed a firearm at her, forced her into the vehicle, and drove her to bushes in Ga-Mathipa village. There, he ordered her to undress, took photographs, and raped her inside the vehicle. She was later dropped on a main road, received help from a motorist, and reported the incident via her grandmother.
Second Incident (18 November 2024): A 12-year-old girl was on her way to school when a man threatened her with a firearm, forced her into a silver Volkswagen Polo, and drove her to bushes near a local mine, where she was raped inside the vehicle. She was later dropped near the school premises, and a rape case was immediately opened.
Police investigations, including forensic DNA analysis, have positively linked a 34-year-old male suspect to both cases. A manhunt is underway for Mazibuko, who is believed to reside in Mkhuhlu, Calcutta policing area, Mpumalanga.
