In a targeted operation on Tuesday, joint law enforcement teams conducted a raid in the Vrygrond area as part of ongoing efforts to combat gang violence and shootings.
The operation, led by the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and the Counterfeit and Illicit Foods Policing Team, was intelligence-driven. Members searched a premises on Beach Road, Vrygrond, within the Muizenberg policing precinct.
During the search, authorities recovered one 9mm pistol with 20 rounds of ammunition, one imitation firearm, and several rifle parts.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He is facing charges under the Firearms Control Act and is expected to be formally charged before the Muizenberg Magistrates’ Court.
