A 62-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, after Carolina police seized 13 unlicensed firearms and over a thousand rounds of ammunition in an intelligence-driven operation.
The operation was conducted at a farm in Carolina at approximately 16:00. The recovered arsenal includes three self-manufactured firearms, four rifles, one shotgun, five handguns, and six pellet guns. Police also confiscated 1,080 rounds of ammunition of various calibres and 106 blank rounds.
During questioning, the suspect failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for being in possession of the firearms and ammunition. He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The suspect is scheduled to appear at the Chief Albert Luthuli Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 14 January 2026.
