South African Police Arrest Two, Seize R16.4 Million in Drugs

On Friday, 9 January 2026, a multi-disciplinary police team intercepted a vehicle on the N9 highway approximately 10 kilometres outside Colesberg in the Northern Cape, following a tip-off from Free State Province police.

The operation, which involved members from Colesberg SAPS, Kuyasa SAPS, Highway Patrol, and Detectives, resulted in the search of a gold Toyota Fortuner.

Police seized mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R16.4 million. A firearm, ammunition, and the vehicle were also confiscated.

Two male suspects, aged 46 and 59, were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs.
