Johannesburg Flying Squad Arrests Two, Recovers Illegal Items After Robbery

On Wednesday, 07 January 2026, at approximately 09:40, Johannesburg Flying Squad members responded to a backup request from a security officer regarding a house robbery in Azaadville, next to Kagiso.

Officers proceeded to Edith and Cavell Street in Hillbrow, where they stopped a White VW Polo. They recovered seven cell phones positively linked to the robbery and arrested one suspect.

That suspect led police to the Bara taxi rank, where a second suspect was arrested. Both suspects then led officers to two premises in Vlakfontein, next to Lenasia South.

At those premises, police recovered two unlicensed firearms, ammunition, a police uniform, and drugs with an estimated street value of R9,000.00.

The suspects, aged between 25 and 33, were detained at Kagiso SAPS. They are charged with possession of stolen property, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and possession of drugs. The vehicle was impounded for investigation.

Both suspects will appear in court soon.
