On Tuesday, 06 January 2026, police conducting a stabilisation operation against illegal mining in the Bekkersdal area arrested a man in Mohlakeng, West Rand District. The suspect was found in possession of equipment used for illegal mining.
The suspect, who is also believed to be an illegal immigrant, is scheduled to appear before the Randfontein Magistrate Court on Thursday, 08 January 2026.
