Fatal Gunshot Wound & Helicopter Medevac – R24 Farm Holding

At approximately 11:34 on the morning of the 25th of December 2025, Rustenburg First Responders received a call regarding a patient who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was reported to be in critical condition at a farm holding along the R24.

Rustenburg First Responders, together with North West Provincial EMRS and ER24 EMS, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the patient was found to be in a critical condition and received immediate medical intervention.

Two ALS paramedics worked hand in hand to stabilise the patient on scene. Due to the severity of the injuries, the Netcare 911 rescue helicopter was activated to transport the patient to Netcare Milpark Hospital for advanced medical care. ER24 EMS assisted by transporting the patient from the farm holding to the R24, where the helicopter had landed.

In total, three ALS paramedics, together with four additional medics and first responders, worked collaboratively to ensure the patient remained stabilised until air transfer. SAPS, Farm Watch, VOLSEC Security, Rustenburg Fire and Rescue Services, and Rustenburg First Responders coordinated efforts to safely close the R24, allowing the helicopter to land and depart safely.

The patient was successfully loaded onto the helicopter and airlifted to Netcare Milpark Hospital. Tragically, despite all extensive life-saving efforts, the patient later succumbed to his injuries.

This scene was attended by Rustenburg First Responders, North West Provincial EMRS, ER24 EMS, Netcare 911 Air Ambulance, SAPS, Farm Watch, VOLSEC Security, and Rustenburg Fire and Rescue Services.
