Detectives from the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Kwanobuhle have opened a murder case and an inquest following the grim discovery of two bodies in the area on Thursday.
Police were summoned to a residence on Baleka Street, Kwanobuhle, at approximately 09:00 on 04 December 2025, following a report of unnatural deaths.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of a man and a woman. The body of a 41-year-old woman, identified as Mathabela Skei, was found beheaded on a bed. The second body, identified as 49-year-old Lunga Ronald Mabombo, was discovered hanging from a roof truss.
According to police reports, the two deceased individuals were in a relationship. The exact circumstances that led to the incident are unknown and now form the core of the investigation.
SAPS Kwanobuhle detectives are continuing their investigation into the matter, which is being treated as both a murder and an inquest. No further details have been released at this stage.
