In a targeted operation aimed at removing illegal firearms from criminals involved in violent crime, police officials achieved a significant arrest on Tuesday, 02 December 2025.
Members of the Anti-Gang Unit conducted a search of a premises on Wendy Street in Manenberg. During the operation, they discovered a CZ 75 pistol loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition inside the house.
Authorities arrested a 29-year-old suspect at the scene on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect is also wanted in connection with a murder case that occurred in Manenberg in November 2025.
The suspect remains in custody and is expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once formally charged.
