Police in Tonga have arrested a 48-year-old man following the alleged fatal stabbing of his 43-year-old wife. The incident occurred on Tuesday, 02 December 2025, at approximately 18:00, at a residence in the Ntunda area near Tonga.
According to an official report, members of the South African Police Service were on routine patrol in Ntunda when they were alerted by community members to a domestic violence incident at a nearby home. Upon responding to the scene, officers encountered a male individual holding a knife outside the premises.
The police members swiftly disarmed the man and proceeded to enter the residence. Inside, they discovered the lifeless body of a female victim, who sustained multiple stab wounds. The suspect was immediately arrested at the scene.
The 48-year-old suspect has been formally charged with murder. The knife used in the alleged attack was confiscated and will form a key part of the ongoing police investigation.
The male suspect is expected to make his initial appearance at the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in Tonga today, Wednesday, 03 December 2025.
