A swift response by the Kwamhlanga Crime Intelligence Unit on Monday, 17 November 2025, led to the recovery of a vehicle hijacked earlier the same day.
The incident occurred in the Suncity Albert Luthuli Section. According to police reports, three armed suspects hijacked a white Polo Classic with Mpumalanga registration. The owner of the vehicle, an Ethiopian national, was held hostage during the crime.
The suspects, who were traveling in an old Toyota Corolla 16-valve, fled the scene with the hijacked Polo. They subsequently stripped the vehicle of several parts, including the engine, two front tyres, gearbox, licence disc, and starter.
Following information received by the unit, police successfully located and recovered the stolen vehicle. A case of carjacking has been opened.
