A 53-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, by the Gqeberha Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit on charges of rape and sexual assault. The arrest stems from criminal cases initially opened by five female victims in September and October of 2020.
According to police reports, the victims had filed complaints against a medical practitioner at the time. Following a lengthy and thorough investigation, the suspect presented himself at the FCS unit with his attorney on Tuesday, where he was taken into custody.
The suspect faces one charge of rape and four counts of sexual assault.
He made his initial appearance in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court on the same day and was granted bail of R5,000.00. The case has been postponed, and the accused is scheduled to reappear in court on 10 February 2026.
