The Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has unveiled a new leadership team following the expulsion of former Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu. Bongani Mncwango, a seasoned executive with 35 years of experience, has been appointed as the new Secretary-General, while Nomsa Dlamini takes over as his deputy.
Mncwango, former CEO of Sanlam Healthcare and Nedcare 911, pledged to address pressing issues, including tensions with traditional leaders in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. “We need the royals—they are the landlords of this country,” he said, acknowledging past oversights in managing these relationships.
Dlamini, previously chair of the State Security Adjudication and Appeals Board, replaces Nombuso Mkhize, who joined Shivambu’s newly launched Mayibuye Consultation process.
Shivambu was expelled after attending a service led by controversial preacher Shepherd Bushiri and later pursuing a new political venture. The MK Party confirmed his termination on July 15, stating the matter was closed.
Party officials emphasized stability, with Presidency Head Musa Zondi denying claims the MK Party had abandoned its founding principles. The reshuffle signals a strategic push to consolidate support ahead of upcoming elections.
