A seven-year-old Belgian Shepherd police patrol dog, Adze, demonstrated remarkable skill by tracking down one of three suspects hiding in the bushes following a robbery at a spaza shop in Kenton-On-Sea on Sunday, 29 June 2025.
The suspects, identified as Thamsanqa David (33), Alizwa Tsitsi (19), and Anele Tshukulana (25), briefly appeared in the Alexandria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 1 July 2025, facing charges of attempted murder and business robbery. They were remanded in custody, and the case was transferred to the Kenton-On-Sea Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 2 July 2025, for a bail application.
Robbery and Shooting
The trio was arrested for their alleged involvement in the robbery of a spaza shop in Marseille on Sunday morning, 29 June 2025, at approximately 09:30. According to reports, the suspects stormed into the shop, shot and wounded the owner, and then stole cash and several other items before fleeing the scene.
Swift Police Response
Police and a private security company responded quickly, leading to the arrest of two suspects near the scene. However, the third suspect allegedly fled into nearby bushes. Authorities then enlisted the help of Adze, an off-duty police dog, to assist in the search.
Adze immediately picked up the suspect’s scent and followed the trail, leading officers to the individual, who was found hiding in dense shrubbery. A backpack containing cigarettes and a speed point machine was confiscated from the suspect.
The successful apprehension highlights the vital role of police K-9 units in tracking down criminals. The case continues as the suspects await further court proceedings.
