The Western Cape High Court has sentenced 36-year-old Mxoleleni Sikhahla to two life terms plus 47 years in prison for the murder of two police officers and related crimes, including robbery and illegal firearm possession.
Sikhahla was convicted on nine of ten charges on 13 June 2025 for the fatal ambush of Sergeant Mnakwazo Mdoko (44) and Constable Mninawa Breakfast (32) in Kraaifontein in 2021. The officers were on patrol in Nondakuthini Street, Bloekombos, when they were attacked and fatally shot inside their vehicle in the early hours of 28 February 2021. Their service firearms were stolen during the incident.

The court acquitted Sikhahla on Count 3 (attempted murder). The sentences for counts two and four to ten will run concurrently with the life sentence imposed in count one, meaning Sikhahla will effectively serve life imprisonment.
Additionally, the court declared Sikhahla unfit to possess a firearm.
