Hawks Officer Murdered in Duduza, Suspect Sought

Warrant Officer Moalusi, a member of the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime unit, was fatally shot in Duduza on Friday evening in a brazen attack.

According to police reports, the officer had taken a state vehicle—a Toyota Hilux—to a car wash. When he returned later that evening to collect the vehicle, he was accosted by two unknown suspects who opened fire, killing him at the scene.

The assailants fled with the officer’s service pistol, the state vehicle, and two cell phones. The stolen Toyota Hilux was later recovered abandoned in Tsakane Extension 6.

Authorities have identified Jojo Edumundo David Mondlana (pictured) as a person of interest who may have information pertinent to the investigation. The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) in Gauteng has urged anyone with knowledge of Mondlana’s whereabouts to come forward.

Investigating Officer Warrant Officer Frederick Jacob Reubenheimer can be contacted directly at 082 778 9390, while anonymous tips may be reported to Crime Stop at 0860 10111.

The Hawks have vowed to pursue all leads to bring the perpetrators to justice.
