Vryburg School Principal Arrested for Alleged Corruption

A 56-year-old secondary school principal in Vryburg was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation unit on Friday, 30 May 2025, for allegedly soliciting bribes in exchange for a teaching position.

The arrest follows an investigation into claims that the principal demanded R30,000 from a complainant in June 2024 in return for securing them a contract teacher post. According to reports, the complainant paid the suspect R25,000 initially, followed by an additional R5,500 at a later stage. The complainant was subsequently hired as a contract teacher.

After a thorough probe, the suspect was taken into custody and charged with two counts of corruption. She is scheduled to appear in the Vryburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 02 June 2025.
