_Details of the Incident:_

– The constable, stationed at Langlaagte, was attacked and killed.

– Valuables were stolen from the scene.

– The incident occurred near Fun Valley Resort.

Update: Nancefield, JHB at about 21h50 Saturday:

Constable Matheus Mokirisi Persal stationed at Langlaagte detectives and his wife Thato Hlatswayo were driving in an unmarked police vehicle White VW Polo along the Golden Highway and stopped the vehicle next to Fun Valley on the side of the road.

The member came out of the vehicle to answer the call of nature and suddenly approached by three armed men with pistols & they fired several shots into the state vehicle while Hlatswayo was inside the vehicle & suspects took the member into the bush.

After a few minutes one of the suspects came back to where the wife was and told her that her husband have been shot and made assurance that he will be ok…the wife then drove the state vehicle to locate the nearest Police Station when she came across a JMPD vehicle which she stopped and they went back to the scene of crime.

Police immediately directed the allocation of all relevant resources to facilitate the search for the missing constable and the suspects.

Two cell phones and an undisclosed amount of cash taken from both victims.

Cst Mokirisi’s body was discovered in the bush and a state pistol lying next to him, he was declared dead by paramedics.

Five cartridges were found at the scene of crime.
