Gauteng – a family of three – a man, his wife and their son (13) – was stabbed during a house robbery on a smallholding in Verreyn Street in Andeon with knives on Saturday morning. The family’s two younger daughters, 8 and 5 years, respectively, were also present during the incident. The area is in the Hercules policing area.

Stephenie and Pieter Venter, as well as their son Jayden Swart (13), were rushed by Pro Med ambulance services with multiple knife stab wounds to Kalafong Hospital. The knives used by the suspects came from the Venters’ kitchen.

From happy to broken and with a lot of pain, Ma Ansie describes how her children are doing. Everyone got stitches, had drips and anti-retroviral medication was prescribed as a precaution for if they were in contact with blood. They received sufficient pain medication. According to Ansie, the trauma will only be addressed from today when the Mon Ami Trauma Troops will visit them. The injured were already discharged from the hospital yesterday and moved in with their parents next to their own home.

“We’re all going to leave, out of Gauteng. We can no longer stay here. I just paid our rent on Friday. We are only in our third month that we stay here and if we knew the place was so targeted by criminals, we would never have moved here. ”

The attacked family lives next to their parents and Ansie describes they were only separated by three garages. They did not wake up when the security gate was broken open and the villains moved freely back and forth to steal from the house. A television was hooked from a wall, all of Jayden’s clothes in his luggage were just as taken and the younger daughters’ cupboards were emptied.

“Our dog does not allow anyone on the yard, but he did not make a sound, even the dog inside us did not even bark. This is all unusual, as we are all light sleepers. ”

“Jayden was fetched at the airport earlier in the evening and his luggage was just as they came home. Stephenie decided the two young girls would sleep with them on a mattress that night. “

Then she says: “Pieter woke up when he felt something against his throat. With that, a voice said, ‘You must comply,’ and the light was turned on. Stephenie woke up immediately when the light went on. She jumped up, but they were ordered to lie down. Money was claimed by the villains, on which they were said the family has no money. After this, Ansie says the attackers became aggressive.

Jayden, who sleeps in the back room, woke up from strange voices and sneaked closer. In the hallway, he grabbed a broomstick and scored one of the suspects with the broom when he found the three strange men in the room. He was stabbed with a knife. Pieter and Stephenie jumped up, after which Stephenie grabbed one of the villains. She was stabbed and Pieter, who wanted to come to her rescue, was also stabbed. Pieter also grabbed the attackers and administered a hold or two.

A stick that one of the attackers had with him was lying outside the house after the attack. “

Ansie says Stephenie threw a stone through the window to tell their parents about the attack and call for help. The help of the CPF and SAPS was described as fantastic, but Ansie says they struggled to get an ambulance to help them, after which Pro med ambulance services could help them immediately.

“This while blood literally sprayed from wounds, the state ambulance refused to help us and another service did not have an ambulance available, even if we wanted to pay cash. My son was on his way with his bank card to pay. ”

Ansie also says police were with them with five men this morning. They were asked if it was some of the suspects, but they were uncertain. Fingerprints were found on the scene, but the family was informed that the case was closed because they would wait for about two years for the outcome of the fingerprints. Her daughter of Kilnerpark told officers that one cellphone was tracked there, but no one was interested in following up the information.

According to Ansie, forensic experts had to be awaited on the evening of the attack, because they were only at two other incidents. Ansie tells how ironic the attack is, as Stephenie and Skyler, her one young daughter, played in the documentary of AfriForum, farm murders. The scene of the redhead Wilmien Potgieter (2), who was killed with her parents Attie and Wilna on a farm in the Free State during December 2010, was interpreted by them. (Reported at the bottom.)

Ansie shares the photos of her children’s wounds with the aim of making people aware of what’s going on.

Nico van Vuuren, the CPF chairman of Sector 4, says the fence on the southern side of the smallholding has been cut. The three suspects were presumably by an empty yard to the home where they were to the family
