In the hallway, he grabbed a broomstick and scored one of the suspects with the broom when he found the three strange men in the room. He was stabbed with a knife. Pieter and Stephenie jumped up, after which Stephenie grabbed one of the villains. She was stabbed and Pieter, who wanted to come to her rescue, was also stabbed. Pieter also grabbed the attackers and administered a hold or two.

Ansie says Stephenie threw a stone through the window to tell their parents about the attack and call for help. Ansie also says police were with them with five men this morning. They were asked if it was some of the suspects, but they were uncertain. Fingerprints were found on the scene, but the family was informed that the case was closed because they would wait for about two years for the outcome of the fingerprints. Her daughter of Kilnerpark told officers that one cellphone was tracked there, but no one was interested in following up the information.
