The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga welcomes a hefty sentenced imposed on Friday 9 June 2023 by the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court sitting in Delmas.
Thapelo Aubrey Mokgomong (32) was sentenced to two life terms following the gruesome murder of his child’s mother and his stepdaughter in Siyathemba informal settlement in Balfour.
Ms Nthabiseng Kubheka (24) and Thandeka Kubheka (02) were found murdered in their residential place on 6 June 2022.
Nthabiseng’s lifeless body was found laying in the kitchen whilst Thandeka’s lifeless body was found with neck injuries in the bedroom.
Investigation revealed that Nthabiseng died as a result of strangulation.
The accused was immediately arrested and made his first appearance in Balfour Magistrate’s Court on 9 June 2022 on two counts of murder as well as for defeating the ends of justice.
Mokgomong was sentenced to two life terms which will run concurrently and he was further declared unfit to possess a firearm.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela further indicated that justice was indeed served for the victims of Gender-Based-Violence as well as their families.
