André de Ruyter, outgoing CEO of Eskom, will leave the power giant with immediate effect.
This has just been confirmed by the power utility.
“Following a special board meeting on 22 February 2023, the Eskom board and group CEO Andé de Ruyter reached a mutual agreement to shorten its notice period to 28 February 2023,” Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha said in a statement.
“The board further decided that de Ruyter was not required to serve the remainder of his notice period but that he would be dismissed from his post with immediate effect. Arrangements around an acting CEO are being finalised with the shareholders and ministers and will be communicated shortly.”
De Ruyter was initially scheduled to remain as CEO until the end of March 2023.
