Four Arrested on R30 in Bothaville for Possession of Copper Cable and Counterfeit Goods

Four male suspects, ranging in age from 33 to 48, have been arrested on the R30 road in Bothaville for unlawful possession of copper cable and counterfeit goods.

Police reports indicate that on Friday, 17 April 2026, Bothaville police received information regarding a vehicle linked to copper cable thefts across multiple policing precincts. Officers located a vehicle matching the provided description and conducted a stop on the R30 road near the traffic department.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed burnt copper cable and suspected counterfeit goods. The four occupants were taken into custody at the scene on charges of possession of copper cable and possession of counterfeit goods.

Authorities seized copper cable weighing 124 kilograms with an estimated value of R11,160, one Ford Ranger vehicle, and the items identified as possible counterfeit goods for further examination.

The four suspects are expected to appear before the Bothaville Magistrate’s Court shortly.
