A 29-year-old male suspect was arrested on Saturday, 28 March 2026, following an incident in Mlaza locality, Lutshaya Administrative Area.
At approximately 17:10, the suspect allegedly discharged a firearm randomly at his home and shot at doors, causing damage. Community members gathered at the homestead, disarmed the suspect, and held him until the arrival of Hlababomvu police. No injuries were reported.
The suspect was found in possession of a firearm with an erased serial number and did not possess a licence for the weapon.
He faces charges of unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, unlawful discharging of a firearm, and malicious damage to property. He is scheduled to appear in the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 March 2026.
