The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of two men to an effective 15 years imprisonment each for the rape and assault of a 16-year-old girl.
The court proceedings revealed that on 12 September 2022, at approximately 07:00, the victim visited a Social Development office seeking advice and assistance. During an interview with a social worker, it was discovered that the minor had been repeatedly raped and assaulted by her siblings during 2020 and as recently as 07 September 2022.
Following the investigation, the two accused were found guilty and sentenced to 15 years behind bars. Lieutenant General Hadebe commended the justice system for the outcome, emphasizing the seriousness with which such crimes against vulnerable members of society are treated.
