Two suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 04 March 2026, following the discovery of an alleged illicit detergent manufacturing facility in Villa Lisa, Dawn Park.
Authorities raided the premises and uncovered large quantities of various chemicals and finished products. It is alleged that the operation involved mixing the chemicals in 250-litre barrels. The mixture was subsequently repackaged into recycled containers.
According to officials, these containers were fitted with labels of well-known brands manufactured by Unilever, suggesting an attempt to pass off the illicit goods as authentic products.
During the raid, the team seized all chemicals and illicit products found on the scene. A bench grinder machine was also confiscated as part of the investigation.
The confiscated products and chemicals will be subjected to forensic chemical analysis to aid in the ongoing investigation.
