Two Arrested After Major Dagga Bust

Members of the Mahanba South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested two suspects and confiscated narcotics with an estimated street value of R390,000 during an intelligence-driven operation on Wednesday.

The operation was conducted on 4 March 2026 along the R543 route near Sulphursprings. Police officers acted on intelligence that led them to intercept a vehicle suspected of being involved in the illegal drug trade.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered dagga weighing approximately 64.1 kilograms. The two occupants of the vehicle were immediately taken into custody on charges of dealing in dagga.

In addition to the narcotics, law enforcement officials seized the vehicle used in the commission of the offence.

The two suspects are expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court soon to face charges related to the dealing of drugs.
