Authorities in Vhembe District have opened an attempted murder case following an alleged attack on a elderly farmer Monday evening.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on 02 March 2026 at approximately 19:30 on a farm located along Elim Road. A 68-year-old man was confronted by two unknown individuals on the property.
It is alleged that the suspects assaulted the victim. During the altercation, one of the assailants attempted to shoot the man, but the firearm reportedly malfunctioned and did not discharge.
The victim sustained injuries during the assault. The two suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident; no property was taken.
Police in Makhado are investigating and have confirmed that the suspects remain at large.
