Two Foreign Nationals Arrested Following Major Drug Bust

 A joint operation by the Central Karoo Flying Squad and K9 units led to the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of R3.3 million and the arrest of two suspects on Friday morning.

According to police, members were conducting a vehicle checkpoint at the Weighbridge on the N1 highway just outside Beaufort West at approximately 10:40 on 27 February 2026.

During the operation, officers stopped a truck traveling from Gauteng to Cape Town for a routine search. Upon inspecting the trailer, authorities discovered a significant quantity of narcotics, including 3,362 kilograms of tik, 22,000 mandrax tablets, and 131.5 kilograms of high-grade outdoor dagga.

The total estimated street value of the confiscated contraband is R3,328,700.

The driver of the truck, a 38-year-old foreign national, and his passenger, also a foreign national aged 41, were arrested at the scene. They have been charged with dealing in drugs.

The two suspects are scheduled to appear before the Beaufort West Magistrates Court on Monday, 02 March 2026.
