
The Frances Baard District Illicit Mining Task Team arrested three suspects on Thursday, 26 February 2026, for possession of suspected stolen property following an intelligence-driven operation.
The suspects, aged between 30 and 34, were apprehended in Seleke Street, Galeshewe. According to police reports, the task team acted on information regarding three men allegedly attempting to sell items believed to be stolen.
Upon operationalizing the intelligence, officers tactically approached the individuals. A search revealed the suspects were in possession of an air compressor, a Wi-Fi router, and a security light sensor. The combined estimated value of the recovered goods is R11,400.
Police confiscated the items on the scene. The three individuals were unable to provide a satisfactory account regarding their possession of the property or furnish proof of ownership.
The trio was subsequently arrested and are expected to appear before the relevant magistrate’s court soon.
