SAPS Intercepts Follow-Home Robbery Gang

A coordinated intelligence-driven operation by multiple law enforcement units led to the interception of a suspected follow-home robbery gang in Centurion on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.

According to police reports, members from SAPS Counter-Intelligence, the Gauteng Tracking Team (TRT), Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, Provincial Tracking Team 2, CAP Specialised Operations, Tracker Connect, and Wierdabrug SAPS collaborated in the operation targeting a syndicate believed to be targeting owners of luxury watches.

Authorities spotted a Hyundai Accent fitted with false registration plates traveling in the Centurion area. It was observed that the occupants of the vehicle were following an unsuspecting family.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects allegedly fled at high speed. The pursuit ended when the suspects’ vehicle came to a halt in a nearby field.

Two suspects were apprehended at the scene. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two unlicensed firearms, ammunition, a pair of hand gloves, additional false license plates, and multiple cellular phones.

The two individuals are scheduled to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court in due course to face charges related to the possession of unlicensed firearms and their alleged involvement in organized crime.
