
Members of the Frances Baard District Illicit Mining Task Team arrested two suspects on drug-related charges following a vehicle patrol in the Belgravia area on Friday.
According to police reports, on 27 February 2026, officials conducting routine patrols in and around the Central Business District received intelligence regarding a red Toyota Etios parked in Belgravia. The occupants were allegedly suspected of selling drugs.
Upon arrival at the scene, police found two adult males sitting inside the vehicle. The occupants were instructed to exit, after which a search was conducted.
During the search, authorities confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R 26,600. A substantial amount of cash was also seized, along with the vehicle, as it was reportedly used in the commission of a crime.
In subsequent operations, police also confiscated dangerous weapons.
The two suspects, aged 41 and 42, were arrested for dealing in drugs. They are expected to appear in court soon.
