Three Arrested After Hanover Park Shooting, Firearms Seized

Members of the Maitland Flying Squad arrested three suspects and seized three firearms following a shooting incident in Hanover Park on Monday evening.

Police responded to reports of a shooting that occurred at approximately 20:00 on 16 February 2026. While gathering information at the scene, officers obtained a description of a vehicle believed to be linked to the incident.

At around 22:00, the members located the vehicle, described as a silver Volkswagen Jetta, at a garage in Lentegeur. Officers tactically approached the car, which had three male occupants inside.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of three firearms. According to police, two of the weapons had their serial numbers removed. Officers also confiscated 107 rounds of ammunition.

The three occupants were arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of prohibited firearms, and possession of ammunition.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 31, are scheduled to make their first court appearance in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court once they have been formally charged.
