Foreign National Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Recovered

Members of the White River Flying Squad recovered a suspected stolen vehicle and arrested a suspect on the N4 highway near Alkmaar on Monday afternoon.

According to police reports, the operation took place at approximately 15:00 on 16 February 2026. Authorities acted on information regarding a Toyota Hilux that had been reported stolen earlier that day in Kameldrift, Gauteng Province.

While conducting routine patrols along the N4, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the stolen Hilux traveling towards Nelspruit. The vehicle was stopped, and a subsequent verification process confirmed it was the same vehicle reported stolen in Kameldrift.

A 26-year-old male suspect, who is a Mozambican citizen, was arrested at the scene. He faces a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 17 February 2026.
