The Bethlehem Regional Court has sentenced 36-year-old Raleboga Johannes Morapedi to three life terms of imprisonment for the murder of three individuals in a premeditated attack in March 2024.
The conviction stems from an incident on the afternoon of 31 March 2024. According to evidence presented in court, Morapedi targeted a white Isuzu double-cab bakkie in which the three victims were traveling. The accused flagged down the vehicle, appearing to request a lift or assistance.
Once the vehicle stopped, Morapedi climbed onto the back of the bakkie and opened fire on the occupants. Two of the victims died instantly at the scene. The third victim was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to their injuries later that day.
