Five Suspects Arrested Following Robbery, Stolen Goods and Firearms Recovered

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended multidisciplinary law enforcement teams for the arrest of five suspects believed to be involved in a string of armed robberies.

According to police reports, members received intelligence regarding suspects who had reportedly committed a robbery at Ga-Manamela village before fleeing the scene. The suspects were traveling in a white Toyota Corolla and a pink Chevrolet Spark with unknown registration numbers.

On Thursday, 12 February 2026, an intelligence-driven operation was launched involving the Provincial Tracking Team, the Provincial Investigations Unit, and the Polokwane Flying Squad. The teams followed up on information regarding the suspected vehicles, which were observed traveling on Matlala Road. The vehicles were subsequently located and intercepted at Sengatane village.

Upon stopping the vehicles, members of the multidisciplinary forces conducted a search of the five occupants. During the search, the following items were discovered inside the vehicles: two 9mm pistols, five live rounds of ammunition, eighteen cellphones, one laptop, seven pairs of designer shoes, and various designer clothes.

The five suspects, whose ages are estimated to range between 25 and 30, were unable to provide the South African Police Service (SAPS) members with the required documentation to account for possession of the recovered items.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects may be linked to multiple armed robberies in the Seshego, Matlala, and Phaudi policing precincts. In these incidents, victims were allegedly threatened with firearms and robbed of their valuables.

Police have issued an appeal to members of the community who have been victims of robbery in the aforementioned areas to come forward with documentation to prove ownership of the seized items.

The five suspects are scheduled to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 February 2026. They face charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of unlicensed ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen goods.
