Teenager Arrested After Firearm Found in Vehicle

Members of the Ravensmead Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 17-year-old male on Wednesday following the discovery of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in a vehicle on 42nd Street, Eureka Estate.

According to police, officers acted on intelligence regarding a black Suzuki motor vehicle whose occupant was allegedly in possession of a firearm. Upon arrival at the location, members located the vehicle with one occupant inside.

A search of both the vehicle and the occupant was conducted. During the search, officials recovered a 9mm pistol without a serial number and 18 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was arrested on scene. He faces charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of ammunition.

The teenager is scheduled to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 12 February 2026.
