Police Arrest Suspect, Seize Drugs Worth R500,000

The Provincial Organised Crime Narcotics Investigation Unit has arrested a 41-year-old male suspect on charges of dealing in and possession of drugs.

The arrest was effected in the Polokwane Central Business District (CBD) on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.

According to police, members acted on intelligence regarding a motor vehicle in transit that was allegedly involved in drug trafficking. The information was operationalised, leading officers to identify a VW Polo matching the description. The vehicle was ordered to stop.

A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic bag containing a variety of suspected drugs, identified as cat and crystal meth. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is R500,000.00.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest. He is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 11 February 2026.
