Two male suspects, aged 37 and 51, are scheduled to appear in the De Aar Magistrate’s Court after their arrest on Sunday, 08 February 2026, for possession of dagga.
The arrest followed actionable intelligence received by police from Crime Intelligence, indicating that a vehicle was allegedly transporting drugs from Phillipstown to De Aar.
Police operationalised the information and immediately conducted patrols along the R48 road. The suspected vehicle was spotted travelling towards De Aar and was subsequently intercepted by officers.
Members of the De Aar Public Order Police unit tactically approached the vehicle and instructed the two occupants to disembark. A search of both the suspects and the vehicle was then conducted.
During the search, officers opened the boot and discovered a black travelling bag containing several sealed packets of dagga.
The suspects were placed under arrest for possession of dagga. Police confiscated the illicit substance, which has an estimated street value of R11,400.00. The vehicle, allegedly used in the commission of the crime, was also seized.
