On February 5, 2026, the South African Police Service (SAPS) recovered stolen livestock and arrested two suspects following an intelligence-driven operation.
Acting on information about a vehicle transporting stolen stock on the R58 between Lady Grey and Barkly East, SAPS members responded. The driver offloaded two suspects and four sheep upon noticing police, then fled toward Sterkspruit. The vehicle was later found abandoned.
Police found the two suspects, aged 31 and 36, next to the road with three live sheep and one slaughtered sheep. Both were arrested.
The suspects will appear in the Lady Grey Magistrate’s Court on February 5, 2026.
