Two suspects appeared in the Springbok Magistrates Court on Monday, 26 January 2026, following their arrests the previous day for alleged contravention of the Nature Conservation Act 9 of 2009.
The men, aged 21 and 28, were arrested in Okiep on Sunday, 25 January 2026, at approximately 08:40. The arrest stems from the alleged theft of protected plants in the Steinkopf area.
According to police, the suspects were found in possession of protected flora with an estimated value amounting to thousands of rand. They face charges under Sections 50 and 51 of the Nature Conservation Act.
The case was postponed for further investigation.
