The South African Police Service in Mogwadi is investigating a murder case and an inquest after a shooting on Sunday, 25 January 2026, in Mohodi.
At approximately 15:50, police responded to a shooting at a house in Ga Madikana Kofifi Section. They found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and face. She was declared dead at the scene. Three spent cartridges were recovered.
Preliminary information indicates the deceased was allegedly shot by her 71-year-old boyfriend.
While police were on the scene, they were informed the suspect had been found at Geluksfontein Farm, which he allegedly owned. The suspect was found with a gunshot wound to the head and declared dead.
A Norinco pistol, loaded with three live rounds and one spent cartridge, was seized from the farm for forensic analysis.
Emergency Medical Services, the Local Criminal Record Centre, and a pathologist attended both scenes.
Investigations are ongoing.
