The Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation unit arrested a 22-year-old woman on Thursday, 22 January 2026, on charges of corruption.
The arrest follows a complaint from a Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) Commissioner. The Commissioner reported receiving an email from the suspect on 09 January 2026. In the email, the suspect, an unsuccessful applicant in a City of Tshwane recruitment process, allegedly offered R10 000 to the Commissioner in exchange for assistance in securing employment.
An investigation was initiated. On 22 January 2026, a police operation at the Wonderboom Junction Shopping Centre resulted in the suspect’s arrest after she allegedly handed R3 000 to the Commissioner.
The suspect will appear in the Pretoria North Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 23 January 2026.
