Police have launched a manhunt for a group of suspects following a business robbery that resulted in a murder at a filling station in the Modjadjiskloof policing area on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 21:30 on 21 January 2026. According to reports, a group of unknown male suspects, wearing balaclavas, stormed the station. One of the suspects was armed with a firearm.
The suspects entered the shop and stole various packets of cigarettes, estimated to be worth R6 800, along with an undisclosed amount of cash taken from a safe.
During the robbery, patrons from a nearby tavern approached the scene after seeing employees flee. One of the armed suspects allegedly fired a shot at the patrons, striking a 38-year-old man.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Thursday, 22 January 2026, at about 02:00.
The police have registered cases of business robbery and murder for further investigation.
