On Saturday, 17 January 2026, police in Kanana arrested two male suspects, both aged 36, for stock theft.
The operation involved the Provincial Crime Intelligence Overt Team, Provincial Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management, and the Stilfontein #StockTheft and Endangered Species (STES) Unit.
Acting on a Crime Intelligence tip-off regarding stolen cattle, police located the suspects in possession of eight cattle they could not account for. The cattle were linked to a recent theft report in Kanana.
The suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen livestock. They also failed to provide valid identification and will face additional charges for contravention of the Immigration Act.
Both suspects are scheduled to appear in the Orkney Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 19 January 2026.
