A 21-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of 16-year-old Linomtha Skeyi, whose body was discovered on Christmas Day last year.
According to police, the suspect presented himself at the Joza SAPS on Friday, 09 January 2026, and was taken into custody.
The case stems from the discovery of Skeyi’s body in an open field behind the Department of Social Development premises in the Joza area of Makhanda on 25 December 2025. She had been reported missing on Christmas Eve, 24 December 2025, and was found during a subsequent search and rescue operation.
Police indicate that the motive for the murder remains unclear and is a key focus of the ongoing investigation.
The arrested male is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Makhanda Magistrate Court on Monday, 12 January 2026.
