On Monday, 05 January 2026, a 25-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were arrested on charges of child grooming and statutory rape involving a 15-year-old girl.
The victim’s mother reported to police at approximately 22:10 that the female suspect, at Oyco in Phola, had encouraged, instructed, and persuaded her child to engage in sexual activities with several men.
The Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit traced the suspects to Oyco in the Four Room Section of Phola and effected the arrests.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Ogies Magistrate’s Court on 08 January 2026. Police have stated they cannot rule out further charges.
